During our 25+ years of pouring concrete driveways, we have poured numerous combinations of driveway styles and textures. We keep up with current trends in the concrete finishing industry and advise our clients on the best finishes for their criteria and budget.
Most of our most popular finishes are listed below, along with brief descriptions of each. We also have a projects section that goes into greater detail about the driveway process on various driveway projects. These are all projects that we have completed from beginning to end.
Removing Existing Driveways
Frequently, we are called upon to remove an existing driveway. We are fully equipped to break and demolish concrete driveways, transport them to a recycling facility, and reuse them as a new base for future concrete work. Instead of hiring a separate concrete demolition contractor, save time and money and let us take care of everything.
Driveway Preparation
We build driveways to last the test of time, and that’s why all our driveways are build to high standards. We start with providing a gravel base of at least 4″ thick. We always use rebar and never mesh so if your driveway ever cracks it will not separate because rebar will hold it together for the life of the driveway. We always use high quality air entrained concrete mixes. We completed we advice using one our our driveway sealers to add additional protection.
Float Finish Driveways
The rough texture of the float finish concrete driveway makes it a safe yet decorative concrete finish. The float finish is a random finish that is ideal for people who prefer a less formal and linear appearance than a broom finish driveway. Float finish driveways are the same price as broom finish driveways and are frequently saw cut rather than hand cut for added decorative elements. Concrete Borders can be added to Float finish concrete driveways.
Float Finish with Borders
The cost of the float finish concrete driveway with borders is slightly higher than the cost of a standard float finish driveway. Borders can be any of our other finishes and can be coloured if desired. Depending on the size and design, borders can be monolithic or poured separately. As is the case with all of our concrete, it is recommended that the driveway be sealed with concrete sealer
Modern Driveway Styles
A smooth finish with evenly spaced saw cuts can be as simple as a contemporary concrete driveway. A modern driveway may include gaps between the slabs to allow grass to grow, or stones or even artificial grass can be placed. With an acid wash, a light sandblast, or a light wash, the modern driveway finish can be lightly textured. Please see our driveways section for more information on contemporary style driveways.
Broom Finish Driveways
The most commonly poured driveway we pour is the broom finish driveway. This finish is attained by pulling a horsehair broom over the concrete surface before the final set is achieved. The broom finish concrete driveway is very slip resistant for our winter months. Integral colour can be added if desired.
Wave Broom Finish Concrete
The wave broom driveway is very similar to a traditional broom finish, with the exception that the broom is pulled up and down along each pass, creating a wave pattern. This concrete driveway offers all of the advantages of a traditional broom finish driveway. Once very common the wave finish is a traditional style now.
Light Sandblast Driveways
The Light Sandblast Concrete Driveway is made by sandblasting or lightly washing the surface. When sandblasting isn’t an option, a light sandblast look can be achieved by washing the driveway. For light washes, we have depth-controlled concrete surface retarders. This driveway has a light retardation depth, exposing only the sand in the concrete matrix; there is no aggregate visible in this concrete finish.
Acid Stain
The Acid Stain Concrete Driveway has a truly one-of-a-kind appearance. After the concrete driveway has cured for about 30 days, acid stain is applied. Acid-staining driveways should be free of spills and other stains; oil stains, for example, can degrade the quality of subsequent acid staining. Each time, acid stains react with the concrete to create a one-of-a-kind masterpiece. Acid-stained concrete driveways have a warm earthy colour and are usually sealed with a high gloss sealer.
Exposed Aggregate Driveways
One of the most popular decorative concrete driveways in the city is exposed aggregate concrete driveway. The exposed rock is durable for the wet cold winters and creates a lovely decorative surface when sealed. Even if it is already exposed, care should be taken in the winter to keep it free of ice and salt. Exposed Aggregate Concrete Driveways can be coloured to match the house or other accent colours.
Exposed Aggregate with Borders
Driveways with exposed aggregate concrete are extremely popular in many custom homes. Borders can be any of the finishes above or below, as well as natural stone or brick mortared borders; for those mortared options, we pour a sunken rough slab border. Exposed aggregate with border combinations are one of the more expensive driveway options. Spray paint is frequently used and is an excellent way to visualise the design options of borders prior to forming.
Stamped Concrete Driveways
Concrete Driveways with Stamped Concrete offer a variety of design and colour options. Stamped concrete imitates the appearance of stone, slate, and wood. There are numerous colours available to produce high-quality and realistic results. We customise each stamped concrete driveway to your specifications. When completed, stamped concrete is sealed to protect it from the elements and to enhance its appearance. In the winter, caution should be exercised to keep these driveways free of salt and ice; they are the most expensive type of driveway and should be protected.
Stamped Concrete with Borders
Another high end type of concrete driveways is the stamped concrete driveway with borders. When these two items are combined, numerous combinations and possibilities exist. Integral or topical colour hardeners can be used. We offer up to eight different colours, which allows for the creation of extremely realistic natural rock and stone effects. Borders are poured prior to or following the main body, depending on the desired finish.

Concrete driveway combinations provide all of the above options with any combination and design you can imagine. The design of the driveway is as important as the finishes. The goal is to achieve a perfect marriage between the two. The colours are limitless, and the patterns and finishes are only limited by your imagination. Each decorative concrete driveway we build is tailored to the customer’s specifications.
Concrete Sealing
Concrete driveways are subjected to the most abuse of any concrete work. Salt and other ice melt products will harm your driveway, so keep them away from it. Some Automobiles drip, so do not to let yours drip these corrosive liquids and oil onto it cause most stains are near impossible to remove.
Applying a sealer on a regular basis will protect your driveway and keep it looking great for years to come. We offer maintenance for all our customers so your investment is protected for years to come.
